সকর্মক ও অকর্মক ক্রিয়া
A transitive verb demands a direct object to receive the action. An intransitive verb makes complete sense without any direct object.

Ask 'what?' or 'whom?' after the verb. If there is an answer, the verb is transitive. If not, it is intransitive.
Verb-কে 'কাকে' বা 'কী' দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে উত্তর পাওয়া গেলে তা Transitive, না পাওয়া গেলে Intransitive।
Intransitive verbs cannot be transformed into passive voice.
Intransitive Verb-এর কোনো প্যাসিভ ভয়েস (Passive Voice) রূপান্তর সম্ভব নয়।
প্রকৌশলী একটি আধুনিক সেতু নির্মাণ করেছিলেন।
Please rise your hand. / The sun raises in the east.
Please raise your hand. / The sun rises in the east.
পার্থক্য:'Raise' is transitive (needs object); 'rise' is intransitive.
'Raise' সকর্মক (object লাগে); 'Rise' অকর্মক (object লাগে না)।
Lay এবং Lie-এর ব্যবহার গুলিয়ে ফেলা।
কেন এই ভুল হয়: 'Lay' means to place something down (needs object). 'Lie' means to recline (no object). ('Lay' মানে কোনো কিছু রাখা (object দরকার), 'Lie' মানে শুয়ে থাকা (object নেই)।)
সঠিক প্রয়োগ: I will lie down for twenty minutes.
