কর্তা ও ক্রিয়ার সঙ্গতি (Subject-Verb Agreement)
Subject-verb agreement is the foundational rule of English syntax: a verb must agree in number (singular or plural) and person with its grammatical subject.
এই নিয়মটি বোঝার আগে নিচের মৌলিক বিষয়গুলো পর্যালোচনা করার পরামর্শ দেওয়া হচ্ছে: Singular and Plural Nouns, Personal Pronouns: Subject & Object.
In present simple tense, third-person singular subjects (he, she, it, single noun) add -s/-es to the verb.
Present Simple Tense-এ 3rd Person Singular Subject-এর ক্ষেত্রে Verb-এর সাথে -s বা -es যোগ হয়।
Ignore prepositional phrases between the subject and the verb.
Subject এবং Verb-এর মাঝে কোনো Prepositional phrase থাকলে তা বাদ দিয়ে মূল সাবজেক্ট দেখে verb নির্ধারণ করতে হবে।
Subjects joined by 'and' generally take a plural verb.
'and' দ্বারা যুক্ত একাধিক Subject সাধারণত Plural verb গ্রহণ করে।
এই আমগুলোর গুণগত মান অসাধারণ।
Everyone have submitted their assignment.
Everyone has submitted their assignment.
পার্থক্য:Indefinite pronouns like 'everyone', 'each', 'somebody' take singular verbs.
'Everyone', 'each' ইত্যাদি সর্বদা Singular Verb গ্রহণ করে।
নিকটবর্তী Noun দেখে ভুল করে Verb নির্বাচন করা।
কেন এই ভুল হয়: The verb must match the head subject, not intervening modifying nouns. (Preposition-এর ভেতরের Noun নয়, মূল Head Noun অনুসারেই verb নির্ধারিত হয়।)
সঠিক প্রয়োগ: One of my friends lives in Toronto.
