Correlative conjunctions are pairs of conjunctions that work together to join equal grammatical sentence elements.
এই নিয়মটি বোঝার আগে নিচের মৌলিক বিষয়গুলো পর্যালোচনা করার পরামর্শ দেওয়া হচ্ছে: Coordinating Conjunctions: FANBOYS.
Standard pairs: Either...or, Neither...nor, Not only...but also, Both...and, Whether...or. Both sides of the pair must match grammatically (parallel structure).
উভয় পাশের ব্যাকরণগত রূপ সমান হতে হবে (Parallelism)। 'Neither...nor'-এ দ্বিতীয় সাবজেক্ট অনুসারে Verb বসে।
With 'neither...nor' or 'either...or', the verb agrees with the subject closest to it.
'Either...or' বা 'Neither...nor' দিয়ে যুক্ত হলে Verb-এর নিকটবর্তী Subject অনুযায়ী Verb নির্ধারিত হয়।
তিনি কেবল একজন প্রতিভাবান লেখিকাই নন, বরং একজন দক্ষ ডিজাইনারও।
Neither Jamal nor his brothers is coming.
Neither Jamal nor his brothers are coming.
পার্থক্য:The plural subject 'brothers' is closest to the verb, so use 'are'.
Verb-এর সবচেয়ে কাছে 'brothers' (Plural) থাকায় 'are' হবে।
'neither' এর সাথে 'or' বা 'either' এর সাথে 'nor' মেলানো।
কেন এই ভুল হয়: Neither strictly pairs with nor; Either strictly pairs with or. (Neither-এর সঙ্গী সর্বদা Nor, এবং Either-এর সঙ্গী সর্বদা Or।)
সঠিক প্রয়োগ: You can choose either tea or coffee.
